Al-Fatihah - SAC1 Dato Jamaluddin Khalid, Presiden Superbikers Acssociation of Malaysia






Deputy Internal Security and Public Order Director SAC 1 Datuk Jamaluddin Khalid died on 2nd Syawal 1429 / 2nd Oct 2008. He was 56.

Jamaluddin, who was in Johor to celebrate Hari Raya at his wife's hometown, collapsed in his hotel room.He was taken to Kluang Hospital but attempts to resuscitate him failed. Jamaluddin was visiting his wife’s parents here when he complained of being unwell at his hotel. He was rushed to the general hospital, but pronounced dead at around 6pm.

Jamaluddin will be best remembered for his association with motorcycles, both as a lawman and as an aficionado of big bikes. A former president of the Superbikers Association of Malaysia (SAM), he spearheaded a campaign against illegal racing, together with then federal traffic chief Datuk Supian Amat when he was Supian's deputy in 1998. They went on a two-week campaign which saw 54 hellriders being slapped with jail sentences. He went on the offensive against illegal racers again when he became the city's public order and traffic chief in 2004.

SAC Jamaluddin was in the police force for three decades after graduating from training in 1978. Jamaluddin's previous posting was as the Sabak Bernam District Police Chief, preceded by stints as the Petaling Jaya Deputy Chief and Selangor Deputy Traffic Chief in the late 1990s. He served in various positions, including General Operations Force brigade commander in Sarawak before he was posted to Bukit Aman in 2007.

He is survived by his wife, Datin Posiah Abu Bakar, and three children.
